  Numerous prominent landmarks can be found across Nigeria but one stands out from the pack for both its aesthetics and historical significance. Abeokuta is the capital City of Ogun State, Nigeria. It was founded by Shodeke in 1830. Abeokuta can be translated into English as 'Refuge Under the Rock' as the presence of giant rocks that dominates the landscape aided refugees during the disintegration of Old Oyo.
