The Myth Of Being Productive

Image
We tend to consider productivity to be a never ending search for something more. More output, more results, more optimization, more meetings, more things checked off to-do lists. More efficiency. But always being busy is in itself a major distraction from the things that actually touch us, that make us happy. We humans think that what we call “being productive” should automatically fill their void. The hole that they feel eating them away. But, sure enough, it never does. Creating things, achieving things, taking things off to-do lists are all activities that feel amazing a first. It’s like a drug. But we risk ending up focusing so much more on productivity than on what’s really going on underneath ourselves. We keep busy because we actually avoid looking at what’s steaming inside, at how we really think about ourselves. We sacrifice our social lives, our romantic lives, our family life at the altar of checking things off lists and letting this define who you are. We ten...

A LETTER TO OMOTOLANI

Image
To Omotolani, After all this time, I'm writing to you to let you know that I am aware of your unspoken concerns and that you are making an effort to maintain your composure. I am able to look behind your quiet and also the load, the regrets, the failures, and the hope. Unfortunately, I'm traveling because I'm looking for a reason. My focus may seem to be elsewhere, but I can see. After suffering comes development, and as the seed of insight grows, I am able to perceive the struggle against the odds and the yearning to get out of this quicksand.   I observe the daily race against time that society is forcing us to participate in while our race is left behind and pushed to emerge from an unfavorable soil. I observe every damaged soul running away from the source of inner peace.    I'm writing to let you know that I've embarrassed manhood by crying for love for the first time and suffering heartbreak as all the memories I've made are drowned to prevent ag...

AWAITING THE ODDS OF LIDC (RESULTS)

Image
Do not be intimidated by the results, do not be cynical either. Just be aware of how much you have already achieved.......   'Even the most diligent and talented students sometimes struggle in exams. The outcome of an exam does not define you, or your intelligence''......   Never quit. Be proud of yourself and dedicate your success to those who really love you, including to yourselves."      We are slowly heading to the day results will be posted. Most of us have mixed feelings. I can personally feel a sense of relief but, also, I feel stressed. I try not to think negatively. I think it is crucial for all of us to enjoy our  vacations, to refill our batteries and relax. Whatever has happened, it’s over now! Whenever I feel stressed and under the weather, I try to remember an old Chinese saying:     Don’t worry about things that can change and things that cannot be changed!  ...

Leadership as a Result of Following Your Education Path

Image
Not everyone is a born leader. However, leadership is less of a talent and more of a skill, which means it is something people must learn and improve. High education students enjoy the unique opportunity of simultaneously improving their leadership skills while at the same time getting a better shot at a promising career. “ Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other” – said John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Taking this into consideration, we have decided to share the advantages of high education in the creation and development of leadership skills. Confidence  “A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others” -Douglas MacArthur The more you invest in your education, the more likely you are to be recognized for your abilities. Once you take at least a small leadership role, you will be able to show off your abilities and prove what you can. Kn...
